Rockin’ Robin

Eva and I explored a new robin’s nest in our car port today…and found 3 beautiful turquoise eggs. Mama robin wasn’t too pleased with our proximity, so we took our photos and departed quickly.

~UPDATE~ August 8, 2011

Over the weekend, mama robin hatched two healthy chicks who are hungry for food….images at the tail end of slideshow below.

Check out my favorite robin chick photo.

How sweet! The eggs are such a beautiful color blue — baby chicks–well only a mother could love :o) Great photos!

    E.,
What became of the third egg?
Those two little hungry mouths remind me of some little boys I knew once.

There were actually four eggs in the clutch (one day after I took the initial egg photos she added one more)…and I have no idea what happened to either of them. The odds of surviving as a robin are pretty slim though…less than 30% survival rate.
